Building Evervalley- Bloodlines

"Why is making a tactical RPG so brutal?"
Because it should be.
Evervalley - Bloodlines isn't just about fantasy squads and strategic combat. It's about systems. So many systems. Line of sight, cover mechanics, AI that thinks (sometimes too much), elevation advantages, randomized loot that still feels fair, and a whole castle's worth of stronghold management. Each one is a game in itself — now imagine duct-taping them all together and hoping the AI doesn’t try to kneel behind a tree to flank its own teammate.
We’ve hit walls. Lots of them. Pathfinding bugs. Enemies who politely wait their turn to die. Units that spin like Beyblades when trying to face their target. One time a wizard healed a rock. And don’t even get me started on the recruitment system — half the time the game thinks you’re hiring ghosts.
But you know what? It’s coming together. Slowly. Beautifully. Painfully.

The more depth we add, the more the game fights back. But it’s worth it. Every system that works — flanking bonuses, overwatch traps, burning villages as active battle maps — makes Evervalley feel like the game I wish I had growing up.
And for those of you following along, thank you. Watching this thing come alive, line by line, map by map, has been wild. We’re not done yet, but we’re pushing through.
The valley’s bloody, the code’s worse — and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
